My Favourite High End Foundations!

img_6508-2Foundation is the most important step of any makeup routine, as it forms the canvas for everything that goes over it. If you have found the perfect foundation for your skin colour and texture, everything that goes over that is going to look even better. Choosing your foundation is like an option you get to choose your own skin, so I can’t emphasise enough of why it’s worth it to splurge a little extra on getting the base right. With different foundations you can create different finishes from dewy to matte and play around with the desired coverage from a very natural look to medium and full coverage for dramatic looks. Remember to choose a foundation that goes with your skin type(Normal/dry/oily) and the undertone of your skin (cooler/warmer undertones).

My top favourite high end foundations are:

1.Makeup forever ultra HD foundation-Rs 2500

2.Nars all day weightless luminous foundation-Rs 3000

3.Estee Lauder double wear stay in place Makeup-Rs 3000

4.Chanel Vitalumiere satin smoothening fluid makeup-Rs 3500

5.Mac Studio sculpt foundation-Rs 1500

The Makeup forever ultra HD foundation is a best selling HD foundation with an ultra -lightweight texture. It also happens to be Kim Kardashian’s goto foundation. It gives the most natural finish, making the skin looking flawless and moisturised. It is an oil free velvety fluid and comes in an exceptional range of shade options with their names prefixed with either “Y”-yellow undertones and “R”-red or cooler undertones, followed by the shade number. I am in the shade Y405. You are sure to find a one that is perfect for you. The packaging comes handy with a pump and a little goes a long way. I like to stipple it with the real techniques brush and buff it in with the beauty blender. It offers light to medium buildable coverage. This may not be ideal for those of you with extremely oily skin, However I definitely have to say that this one happens to be one of my top two favourite foundations because of the gorgeous satin finish that leaves my dry skin looking healthier.

The Nars all day weightless luminous foundation is a magic potion or photoshop in a bottle. The formulation is water based and paraben free and thereby weightless in texture, giving a your skin but better finish. This baby blends like a dream on the skin. It’s even tone technology and full coverage, instantly neutralises the redness, dullness, hyperpigmentation and any sort of discolouration, leaving my skin even toned, flawless and luminous. This foundation stays put for over 10hours.It comes in an opaque and a luxurious sturdy frosted glass bottle with a pump for easy application. It does come in an extensive range of shades, interestingly named after places and my shade happens to be Syracuse or Tahoe, I am still contemplating on that because both seem to  work fine on my skin.  I just take one or two pumps of it and prefer to gently dab it on with my finger tips and allow the heat of my fingers to blend the product into my skin for a more natural luminous finish, than when applied with a stippling brush.

The Estée Lauder double wear stay in place makeup is a must have to your makeup collection. If you are looking for a foundation with full coverage that’s perfect for an occasion or your big day, I would definitely recommend this one. The formulation is not as light and water based  as the MUFE, Chanel vitalumerire  Aqua  or the Nars one but still manages to blend seamlessly on the skin. It is a complete matte foundation with a flawless finish. To know more on why this happens to be one of my favourite foundations, you can check out my detailed review and makeup look with this lovely on.

The Chanel Vitalumiere satin smoothening fluid makeup, as the name suggests has a smooth fluid melt away texture making my skin hydrated and giving an supple and classy look. It helps you achieve an even toned satin radiance by just dabbing it with your finger tips onto your skin. Although it may seem runny or liquidy, it has the magic of instantly becoming my second skin, covering the imperfections and leaving it glowy and luminous because of its light reflecting properties. It is a great foundation for those of you with normal to dry skin, especially during the winter to hydrate and moisture the skin. However during hotter seasons, I like to top this over a matte foundation on my high points like the cheek bones, center of the forehead and the bridge of my nose to bring out a natural dewy shine at those high points.I instantly fell in love with the glowy radiance, dimension and class it brings to the overal look. It contains walnut extract to revitalise and protect the skin. I am in the shade 60-Hale. Chanel’s classic fragrance of sophistication pours out of this bottle as well. I love love love this foundation and have to say that it’s worth the splurge!

Mac is the most easily accessible brand in the high end sector, some may even feel that it isn’t a luxury cosmetic line when their very own product line-Estée Lauder is positioned for the premium sector. I have still included it on this post to cater to majority of the makeup lovers who start of with Mac before they hesitantly venture into more expensive brands and ofcourse for the huge cult followers who swear by Mac. Mac’s studio fix foundations are the magic wands for numerous makeup artists and is an essential part of the bridal makeup kit. Mac Match Master foundation comes with a brilliant matte formulation with medium to full coverage and works wonders to perfect your skin for your big day as well. Mac studio sculpt foundation is thick and creamy in texture. If you’re looking for a foundation that sculpts and chisels your face to accentuate your features with a wet and glowy finish, the Studio sculpt foundation is the one you need. Overal, Mac foundations has something for every person’s need and skin colour. I am in the shade NC42 and prefer the dewy formulation of the studio sculpt. I only wish it doesn’t oxidise as much on the skin, as compared to my other favourite high end brands.

Here are some swatches of these foundations for you to have a better picture of the formulation and how it looks once it is blended on the skin.

Well, that’s about my top favourite high end foundations. The Georgio Armani luminous silk foundation and the YSl Touché eclat foundation are the ones on my long awaited wish list. Can’t wait to try them out to see if they soon happen to become my favourites as well.

    1. Spiced sand should be a better match I guess, you can also try the toasty tawny for more of a warmth undertone.
