Brows Speak louder than words!

“You think I’m listening, but I was just doing your eyebrows in my head! ” ;P

If you are one who has to have your  eyebrows on fleek and believes that you can have a bad hair day but never a bad brow day, then this post is for you!!

This post is all about me sharing my everyday eyebrow routine, that brings so much more definition to the face. When I look back at my photos that were clicked back in high school with really thin, sharp eyebrows, I often wonder “what was I even thinking” LOL! I’m sure all of us have memories of such hilarious trends that we have outgrown. These days we are all in for thick and fuller natural brows which add a touch of feminity and help embrace your natural beauty…

Some of the brow products that I use on a daily basis are:

1. Benefit Goof Proof brow pencil- #06

2. L’oreal Paris Brow Artist Genius kit -01 Medium to dark

3. NYX Tinted Brow mascara-TBMO4 Expresso

The key to perfecting your eyebrows is all about definition, shape and precision.

Know the shape of your face and figure out the eyebrow shape that compliments it. Some prefer a straight brow, some an arched brow and some like a high lifted brow that makes you look permenantly surprised… Do you girl! 😉

When you draw to create definition, ensure that you draw along every hair line of the brow to make it look as natural as possible, rather than a creepy, thick, blotched line. It is always important to tweeze the excess hair around your eyebrows.

First off, I draw the outline of the desired shape using the Benefit Goof Proof eyebrow pencil. Benefit is known for their elaborate brow product line and the range of shades they come in. I picked mine in #06.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate how edgy and cool the packaging looks!

img_5987.jpg  To define your eyebrows, start off at the inner corner that is closest to your nose and draw the base line. Next, mark the highest point of the brows to achieve the arch that you wish to flaunt. Now, gradually taper the brows all the way down to your temples or the outer corner of your eye. It creates a lovely boundary around the length of your eye, rather than keeping it shorter at the outer corner. Once you have drawn the upper and lower defining lines of your brows… go ahead and start filling them.

To fill the brows, I use the Loreal Brow Artist Genius kit. This kit has a creamy powder on one side and eyebrow wax on the other side. I prefer to use a thicker angular eyebrow brush, rather than the one that comes with the kit, unless I am travelling or on the go. This brow kit from L’Oréal is a dupe of the Benefit Brow Zings, and comes in a variety of shades to choose from. I got mine in the shade 01(Medium to Dark). Make sure to choose the colour that is closest to your natural hair colour. I first fill the brows within the marked boundary that I have drawn using the creamy powder, and then top it off with the waxy product so that it stays put all day.

Once I’m done filling my brows, I go back and use the Goof Proof eyebrow pencil to do the most important step. I trace the natural hair line by gently stroking the individual hair follicles, mainly at the inner corner of the eye where the brows begin. This creates maximum definition, but again the rule is to remember to keep it natural. This gives the illusion of a thicker and fuller brow (because you don’t want to have a very fake or too made up artificial looking eyebrow). I use the flat edge of the brush on the inner starting point of my eyebrow to create a sharp square edge.

Finally to set everything in place, I use a tinted brow mascara from NYX in Expresso and gently use the spoolie all over the browline to set every hair follicle in place for the entire day to look like you woke up with perfect brows!

Where to get: I got the NYX tinted brow mascara from Nykaa.

If you’re a girl who thinks it’s crazy to splurge on microblading your brows, and don’t have all the time in the world to go step by step, all you actually need is the Benefit Goof Proof eyebrow pencil and you are set!

It comes with an angular waxy brow tip on one side and a convenient spoolie on the other side. You can draw, fill and set your brows with just this. The best part is, that you can carry this cool pencil anywhere with you and do your brows within seconds on the go…

I picked up my Benefit Goof Proof Eyebrow pencil from Sephora, Chennai.

While we are talking about brows, ABH deserves a special mention. Anastasia Beverly Hills has amazing  brow products and I can’t wait to share another post with you lovelies on all of their brow essentials like the dip brow pomades and their pencils.

To sum up, Here’s the anatomy of a natural looking brow:

  1. Mark your natural start point A
  2. Arch upto your natural high point B
  3. Taper it upto your natural end point C

Once you locate the natural points of A, B and C, determine the thickness, height and length of the brow. Use the thickest part of your natural brow as a guide of how thick you want your eyebrows to be from A to B. Now go ahead and taper the thickness as you trace the path from B to C. Once you are sure of how high you want to go and how long you would like your brow to be, fill in with precision along every hair line to create a very natural- looking elegant brow. Don’t worry about making your eyebrows look identical, because they are sisters, not twins. You can also highlight the brow bone with a concealer, highlighter or a lighter colour matte eyeshadow. A little beauty secret that I learnt from my mom is to add a pea-sized of dab of moisturiser just below point B to give an illusion of a natural shine and wet glow. This gives an instant lift to the brow!

Well yes, the secret to flaunting the better you is to keep it as natural as possible. 🙂

XoXo,
