Today’s post is on a highly requested question on which is the best makeup setting spray. Makeup setting sprays are of different kinds and are versatile in their function. There are makeup sprays to prime and prepare your skin before you apply the makeup and setting sprays which are used to set the makeup in place and last a very long time. Makeup sprays are available in almost every high end brand like Tarte, Urban decay, Josie maran, Makeup forever and each one of them pretty much does a good Job. However a few most used and highly recommended ones from both drugstore and high end are:
- Hard Candy fast and fabulous makeup setting spray
- Nyx makeup setting spray in dewy/matte
- Mac Prep+Prime Fix+
- Urban decay all nighter setting spray
- Loreal Paris Infalliable makeup extender setting spray
Urban decay all nighter setting spray :
This is such a great product to set your makeup and make it last for more than 8 hours. Skindinavia makes some amazing setting sprays and they manufacture the ones for Urban decay as well. The nozzle of the all nighter spray is well designed that it gives an even spray all over your face, it instantly sets and firms the skin in a good way for it to last for a very long time. This product is paraben free and much loved by those with sensitive skin. The Urban decay setting sprays are highly reccomended by many of the beauty gurus and is great for brides, theatre, photoshoots or for any occasion that requires your makeup to stay in place for many hours. It is priced at $30 for 10oz.
The loreal Infalliable pro spray and set is very similar to the Urban decay setting spray. I was surprised at how long it claims to make the makeup last as well. Although it definitely does the job, I wish it was priced lesser for a drugstore setting spray. You can get this one for ₹1402 at Amazon.in
The NYX makeup setting sprays come in both matte and dewy mists. These setting sprays are a good drugstore option .The matte setting spray doesn’t really mattify your skin, but is quite similar to the dewy setting spray and sets the makeup with a natural dewy glow. The elf setting spray is often spoken along with the NYX among the drugstore options, but is definitely not comparable to the NYX one in quality or lasting power in my opinion. This product unfortunately has a chemically smell to it and says “inflammable”on the bottle, which is a clear indication that it contains a lot of alcohol in the formulation. The other thing I don’t really like about the NYX spray is that it leaves the skin a little sticky or tacky. This retails at for ₹1951 for two bottles of 2oz each of product at Amazon.in
You could even try the LA girl pro HD setting spray, which is known for its lightweight fine mist and is easily available online. You can get this one for ₹1290 for just 1.oz at Amazon.in. I have heard some really good testimonials from some of my friends on this product and is said to be a good dupe for the Urban decay all nighter setting spray as well, except for you have to pay a lot more for very less quantity.
If all the other setting sprays in the world had to magically vanish away and if I were to pick just one. I would blindly pick the Mac Prep+Prime Fix+
The Mac Prep+Prime Fix+ is my absolute favourite and most used makeup setting spray. An aqua spritz of vitamins and minerals, infused with green tea and chamomile that instantly cools and refreshes the skin. It adds radiance and finishes makeup. Spray it on, skin drinks it up!
This spray has been my holy grail and I use it for multiple purposes like priming my skin before I apply the makeup, to dampen my beauty blender, to intensify the eyeshadow pigments or powder highlights and also a great finishing spray to bring all the makeup together. It sets all the powder, cream and liquid products together on the skin making it look seemless and sets it in place.
I use the Mac Prep+Prime Fix+ :
- To Prime your skin before makeup application
- To Dampen the beauty blender before foundation and also prevents the beauty blender from absorbing excess foudation
- Later it between makeup application
- Intensifies eyeshadows and pigments
- Instantly brings powder, liquid and cream products together, giving a seemless finish
- Doubles the intensity of highlighters and is great for strobing
- Sets the makeup in place without budging
- Prevents transfer of makeup on clothes or hands
- Makes the makeup last longer than 6 to 8 hours
They also have it in some interesting scents such as Cucumber, rose, lavender and coconut. I can’t wait to try out the coconut scented Fix+. It retails at $22 or around ₹1200 for 100ml in India at any MAC counter.
If you’re looking to purchase your first setting spray, I would just recommend you to go with the Mac Prep+Prime fix+ as it is definitely a staple!
yeah, I really know nothing about make-up, thank God there are geniuses like you to enlighten some of us. 🙂
